Freedom from Escaping
There is NO Escape but there IS Freedom!
How many of us have been searching for or chasing that “feel good” or “happy place” or the “sliver of pleasure” or “instant gratification” or “greener over there” or “somebody or something else is going to make me happy”.
Why do so many of us want to escape? Why do so many of us want to escape the pain or the situation or the people that cause us so many problems and despair?
A wise man, who spent much of his life on the streets, using drugs, alcohol, doing major crimes, and escaping from the pain, said, “people who have addictions don’t take substances to feel good they take them to stop feeling bad.” He was in maximum penitentiary for 13 plus years. If the guards didn’t smuggle drugs for him, he’d have a contract put out on their head. He was the only major criminal given a pardon by the government of Canada.
I know what it’s like to escape the pain. To fall for the lie of lust, alcohol, and sexual immorality. I know what it’s like to keep chasing the lies that “it’s greener over there.” I know what it’s like to want to numb the pain of rejection and feeling bad about myself.
The very candy (escape) that we think is going to make us happy is the very thing we keep chasing but never get there. The Wow Now! The Sliver of Pleasure! The Instant Gratification! The Greener over There! The drugs, the alcohol, the junk food, the over-eating, the laziness, the procrastinating, the blaming, the running away, etc. are all behavior rooted in fear. The fear of I’m not enough. The fear of I’m not good enough. The fear of not being important, valued, accepted, and loved.
We keep trying to find our happiness, our joy, our peace, and fulfillment in life. Yet we keep chasing the substitute or the replacement. This is a lure and lie that we buy from the devil. Don’t buy the lie that you’re not good enough. Don’t believe the enemy and the liar that wants you to believe that you are not enough.
If you believe the lie that you are not enough, then you will have fear and thus a motive to try and get that which you think you lack. But you don’t lack it. God never gave you a spirit of fear or the lie of lack. You lack nothing. When you know God’s love and provision for your life you never have to worry again.
You can have TOTAL FREEDOM.
The truth is God gives you Freedom. He gives you Freedom from the lie of lack. He rescues you and reconciles you to Himself through His Son Jesus Christ.
You see the lie of lack causes you to focus on yourself (self-gratification). This then causes you to sin (self-gratification). It creates a motive and action of “getting”. A motive and action of “getting” or “selfishness” never allows you to be Free to Give.
A “Getter” can’t be a “Giver”. God is “Giver” not a “Getter”
Motive and Action of Getting = sin
Motive and Action of Giving = Love
God is Love. Satan is sin. God is giver of love. Satan is a getter (taker) who is absent of love.
When you are escaping and chasing the me me me race you will always be in bondage. You will never be Free.
Escaping to find your happy place, can only be found in Jesus. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Jesus is Love.
Love is the Way.
Love is the Truth.
Love is the Life.
Jesus said, if you had the water that I have (living water) you’d never thirst again.
The living water = LOVE
Jesus came to live in us and love through us. It’s only a loving heart that is FREE.
And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them. John 17:26
26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: (Colossians 1:26-28)
Freedom comes from not believing the lie of lack or living in fear of not enough.
Freedom comes from knowing you are God’s son or daughter, never lacking anything. You are perfect, holy, sanctified, complete love. God’s Holy Spirit (love) lives in you as you Believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. When you truly know God’s love, He lives in you and loves through you. He takes over your life (heart, mind, body, soul, spirit).
You are His son or daughter. You belong to Him. God’s love is in you and provides all you need for life everlasting (now and forever).
